Delhi - Temples and Tuk tuks

We threw ourselves in at the deep end and started our journey in Delhi. We can confirm that it was completely mad but after experiencing it's chaos we feel able to take on anything. We soon got used to the traffic jams and the constant hooting of horns from every vehicle on the road. We wondered why people bothered to draw white lines on the road since no-one paid any attention to them at all.

We only had two days here so had limited time to explore. We visited the Lotus Temple, a Bahá'í House of Worship which tries to bring together people of any faith to worship under one roof. The building was huge with amazing architecture and very pretty gardens.

The Akshardham complex was just astounding. Construction only started in 2000 and it was designed to display thousands of years of Hindu tradition and spirituality. The detail on the buildings was unbelievable. We went to the lights and water show that started after dark which used several of the Hindu Gods, modern lighting effects and water fountains to put on a very entertaining show (even if we didn't understand what any of it meant). You were not allowed any cameras or phones in the complex so we have had to pinch a photo from the internet to show the building from the front.

Whilst we were in Delhi it was Krishna's birthday, so many of the streets were lit up to celebrate and the vegetarians were allowed to eat meat for this one day a year. Most peple were very friendly, especially the children, although they all thought we were American but were very pleased when we said we were English.
Achievements so far:
Catching a tuk tuk and negotiating a reasonable price
Ellie managed to nearly got run over on only one occasion
We've not been unwell yet (touch wood it continues)
Riding the Delhi Metro (which seems to run better than the London Underground, and the air conditioning onboard is amazing)
Getting on the correct sleeper train and arriving in Jodhpur this morning as intended
