Sri Lankan Homestays

Throughout Sri Lanka we booked homestays to give us the chance to stay with locals and learn more about the country. Everyone we stayed with were great hosts, chatting when we wanted to and allowing us our own space the rest of the time.
In Ella we had a huge bedroom with two double beds (just in case Ashley got kicked out) and a private balcony with the most stunning view of Ella rock. We were provided with a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast each morning and guidance on where to walk and eat.

In Habarana we stayed in a remote treehouse that was surprisingly comfortable, complete with outside toilet and shower. In the evening the host lit lanterns so that we could find our way (there was not electricity), which also gave the place a greT atmosphere to sit on the balcony and watch the bats flying around.
